What sets KoolHats above the rest?
Our hats are all handcrafted by native artisans from
Colombia. Each hat is made individually, not
mass produced. Each straw hat is braided by hand,
the leather is processed in tanneries with a lot of the
work done by hand, making the leather one of the
finest in the world.
The leather is geniune cowhide, the straw is organic,
authentic mountain straw and the canvas is hardpress
satin canvas, covered in resin and is not breakable,
but is shapable. Our leather hats have 14 - 16 gauge
galvanized steel wire in the brims, and the straw has
18 gauge galvanized steel wire in the brims.
All of our hats can be shaped, and are water resistant.
The hats will not lose their shape when they get wet
from rain or from snow.
The leather has been treated with a specific wax,
created by the natives, from animal fat that protects it
from rain and snow. The straw and canvas have also
been treated for the elements.

Using a tape measure, start one inch above your eyebrows and go around the widest part of your head. Make sure you do it correctly. Do it several times. If you have any doubts, have a friend assist you. Basically, you need to measure your head exactly where the hat will sit. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.
